This document answers the most common questions we receive about Garmin tracking equipment, including compatibility, legality, product features, and delivery. For anything not covered here, please get in touch — we’re always happy to help.
Q1: Do Garmin Alpha F system (French) units work in the UK?
French (F system) units do work, but only with matching F system parts — a UK collar will not pair with a French handset. Additionally, you will not be able to carry out software updates from the UK. Missing updates can mean losing out on significant functionality improvements (such as the bark sensor feature added in a past update) and bug fixes. Technically, F system units operate on a frequency that is not legal in the UK.
Q2: Are the Garmin TT 25 collars legal in the UK?
The TT 25 collars are currently only illegal in Wales. As with F system units, they are not a UK product, so the same regional restrictions apply.
Q3: Do the Garmin T 20 K collars have a tone or vibration function?
Yes. The T 20 K collars include tone, vibrate, and collar light control. The only feature they lack compared to the TT 25 is a shock/stimulation function.
Q4: What is the difference between the Alpha 300 and the Alpha 300i?
The Alpha 300i includes satellite communication functionality, which is useful for working in areas with no mobile phone signal. It also features an SOS function for contacting emergency services. Other than these additions, the two handsets are identical. The satellite communication feature requires a subscription of approximately £13 per month.
Q5: How quickly can you deliver an Alpha 300 handset and T 20 K collars?
Items held in stock are dispatched promptly and typically arrive within 2–3 days of ordering via Royal Mail. Orders placed in the morning may arrive as quickly as the following day.

Q7: What is the difference between the mini and standard T 20 K collar?
The main unit is the same size and weight on both versions. The difference lies in what is called the flex band — the connector that joins the main unit to the GPS module on the collar strap. On the mini version, this flex band is zero length, meaning the GPS module sits right next to the main unit rather than further up the strap as on the standard version. This allows more collar strap to pass through the buckle, enabling the mini to fit neck sizes down to approximately 21 cm, compared to approximately 30 cm on the standard. This makes the mini ideal for smaller breeds such as Teckels, Terriers, and Whippets.
Q8: Is the zero length flex band on the mini collar easy to fit?
Yes. It comes complete with fitting instructions. If you have any difficulty, we are always available to guide you through the process.
Q9: If I order a mini T 20 K collar, do I have to fit the short flex band myself?
No. We will fit it for you. We take a standard collar, remove the standard flex band that links to the GPS module, and replace it with the zero length flex band so the collar fits a smaller neck. The removed standard flex band is included in the box for you to keep.
