Please find below some of the most common questions we are asked regarding our Garmin® Dog Tracking Systems. If you can't see what you are looking for please feel to contact us and we will try to answer your question and add it to the list.
Q. Can I use my 200i to collect my cull data?
A. Yes you can. Just add a 'waypoint' where your cull took place and you can then add as much additional information as you wish.
Q. Can I see my culls on a map and print it off for my management plan?
A. Yes, no problem. Download the free software 'Garmin BaseCamp' on your computer. When you connect your device you will be able to see all your culls (as waypoints) on the map. The easiest way then is to take a screen shot and print it off.
Q. Can I download my cull data?
A. Yes. Using 'Garmin BaseCamp', you will see all your culls as waypoints on the list. You can then choose to export either selected or all to a C.S.V. spreadsheet which will show all the information you have added.
Q. Does the K5 collar have tone, vibrate and light function?
A. Contrary to some misconceptions, yes. All of these functions can be set up under 'Training Setup' >' Training Keys' on your 200i handset.
Q. I get a free years subscription to Garmin BirdsEye with my device. Do I have to renew my subscription and if I don't do I lose my maps?
A. When you have either a free or paid subscription to Garmin® BirdsEye you can download as many areas of imagery to your device (or ideally its SD card if you install one), that its memory can adequately handle. Once downloaded to your device it's yours to keep forever on that device, and you will not lose them if you do not renew your subscription. If you need to download more areas after that year you will have to purchase a new subscription.
Q. Do I need a computer to download Garmin® BirdsEye?
A. Only the Alpha 200i has the ability to download Garmin® BirdsEye direct to the device via wifi. Other units will need to be connected to 'Garmin BaseCamp' on your computer.
Q. I'm not sure how to use some of the functions on my device. How can I find out how to do so?
A. The easiest way is to download a manual from our downloads page which can be found here: https://www.deertrackingservices.co.uk/garmin.html
Q. If my colleague has a handset can we see each others location?
A. Yes. If you pair each others handsets to each other you will be able to see their location. Additionally if you pair their collars with each other you will also be able to see where each others dogs are.
Q. If my dog goes out of range and I have lost communication with the collar, what do I do?
A. Should your dog venture to such a distance where that happens its last communicated location will show on your handset. Proceed to that location and when within range your communication will be re-established.
Q. I have a Garmin Alpha 200i. What are the costs of the Garmin inReach satellite communication service, and can I stop it at anytime?
A. Depending on your requirements and usage subscription plan prices do vary. We recommend for most people to start with a personal 'Freedom' plan, which at the time of writing costs £14.99/month. Enrolment in Freedom plans is subject to a £34.99 annual fee. With a Freedom plan you can choose to pause your subscription for a month or months and reactivate it at a later time in the year.
